Saying No

One of the funniest, and quite frankly frustrating, things to watch with a two year old is seeing them learn how to say, "no." My son Tanner just recently learned to have an opinion on just about everything. It sometimes seems like he says no just to say no.

What struck me about that is how much of a hard time I have saying no to anyone. If people really want my help on something, I just can't turn them down. So we spend the first two years of our lives learning to say no, then the next 23 learning to share and say yes, then the rest of our lives learning to say no again. I know I write a lot about time and priorities, but it's a big thing for me lately.

On a different note, the Super Bowl was pretty boring, and unfortunately Jeremy was right that the Colts would win. It's not that bad getting beat in a game where you don't care about the teams. The first half was good, but the second was all the Colts. The commercials were so-so, Bud Lite winning the prize for the best with the "Paper, Rock Scissors" and the "Fist Bump is Out." I was surprised by Prince, though I'm still not a fan, he has great taste in headbands. The Super Bowl party was great, though. Thanks, Mel! The boys won the game Perfect Ten, but the girls were the only ones to actually score a perfect ten in any round. That makes the score 1-1. Bring it on girls!
