What ever happened to evil?

Chris Rock once said: Everybody is wanting to know what music were the kids listening to, or what movies were they watching. Who gives a $#@! what they was watching! Whatever happened to crazy? What, you can't be crazy no more? Should we eliminate crazy from the dictionary?

We were talking in one of my classes yesterday about the shootings at Trolley Square. My teacher brought up a good point that really made me think. My first reaction when I heard about this guy was, and I even said it to Jenny, "That guy must be mentally ill." There's a book that my teacher brought up called "The Death of Satan."

The basic idea is that everything bad that happened in the world since the beginning of time has been blamed on Satan, until the 20th century. At some point we stopped blaming Satan and just started saying that people were sick. There are people who work with murders and other psychopaths that say that some people are just plain evil. Whatever happened to evil?

I'm not saying that it's not good to make sure your kids aren't playing murder games and watching crazy TV, because it's obvious to me that that has some bad effects on kids. But my biggest worry is that we as Christians not realize how much Satan has control over some people, because we think they need Prozac to be fixed.

My heart goes out to the victims of this terrible tragedy. I pray they and their families can eventually find peace in their lives. We're all praying for you!
