MBA Experience

I was in the office of the counselor in charge of the full-time day MBA program for the University of Utah today, and she told me that they had just started to admit and enroll students into the program for next year. How exciting! I remember last year when I was worried at the prospect of going back to school starting a new degree.

While I was in the process of searching for information on the U, I often did blog searches to see if anyone had written about their experience there. I haven't really done that, per se, but here comes my public service announcement: If you want to know more about the U's MBA program, without getting an opinion from someone who works there, then let me know. I would have loved to have someone to ask how it really is there.

I think getting an MBA is one of the best decisions I've ever made in my short life. It's difficult to be in school. But I like school, and the full-time program really attracts people like me, who seem to be motivated by the prospect of something better in their lives. I love creative fields. That's why I love music and film. But there are so many times when I am sitting in Don Wardell's data analysis class, or Glen Schmidt's operations class, or Dr. Abe's leadership class, that I am blown away at the way that these teachers can not only stun me with a new way of thinking about business or the world, but inspire me to find out more.

I'll always cheer for BYU on the football field, but if I ever make enough money to give back to my school, I have to say that check will probably go to David Eccles.
